Spring Decor Inspiration

Spring Decor White Gold Contemporary

With winter slowly winding down, we can’t help thinking ahead to springtime and updating our space to welcome the new season.

Nothing says spring like bouquets of fresh blooms – peonies, roses and hydrangeas in soft pastel colors are our favorites.

We’ve been loving gold accents on furniture, home decor and dinnerware lately, especially against white backdrops. When light and subtle, gold really adds a touch of sophistication and elegance to a table setting or decor. Of course, I had to find a way to incorporate navy into the mix! Again, when working with a white backdrop, navy can be mixed in fairly easily, and it also complements gold pretty nicely. I went with this lovely pillow for just a splash of navy.

Loving the canister/box set and the candle holders from one of my favorite home decor sites, Z Gallerie. I actually just discovered it over the holidays, and I have become a fan. Got this lovely bar set and these adorable snack picks, and I can’t wait to whip them out at my next gathering.

Keeping it Real

Winter Pastels White Gray Blue

Winter whites and pastels are having quite the moment. It may be that spring is right around the corner, and we are ready to transition to softer and smoother colors as opposed to some of the more dramatic colors of the winter.

In the combo above, we’ve also tried to keep all pieces on the affordable end, so this is very much an achievable look after the havoc that the holidays may have caused on your bank account. Henri Bendel and Michael Kors have been my go-to alternatives for accessories that are always on trend, at very reasonable prices. Also, Topshop has done a great job of bringing European “cool” to the States, and their prices are generally easy on the wallet. Their collection at Nordstrom is definitely something to keep your eye on.

So, about this outfit… The coat is a statement piece, so I’m always inclined to keep all other pieces a little muted. The powdery gray tone of the accessories supports the soft blue of the coat nicely, creating a soft palette of colors. Loving the jewelry here as well. I’m especially excited about the mixed-metal MK bangle – what a lovely Cartier alternative.

Black and White

Maison Michelle Black and White Outfit

I  really loved how Kate Beckinsale wore this maxi cardigan here recently. While the idea of pairing this with a jumpsuit and sleek pumps is absolutely fabulous (really loved the contrast of the delicate silk in the jumpsuit and the chunky knit of the cardigan), I can also see it dressed down in a more casual and edgy look. I’ve paired it here with a leather mini skirt, to go with the leather lining of the cardi. Over-the-knee boots have been one of the definitive trends of the winter season, and they are just so flattering with a mini. How cute is this Wildfox tee?? It also comes in yellow for brighter summer days. Sunnies and a fedora complete the look for a chic day around town.

Day to Night Glam

Winter Coat Day to Night

You guys, this coat!! I am in love with the shape and structure! I created these day and night looks in my attempt to justify the major splurge. It is definitely an investment piece, and you truly can take it from day to night. But just in case your spare cash is tied up in slightly more lucrative investments, here are some alternatives. This ultimate save (which has the added bonus of being navy!), this classic piece (on sale for 30%), and this a bit more trenchy look.

Travel Day

Travel Outfit Booties Jeans Accessories

Who doesn’t love the prospect of traveling? There’s something about the excitement of heading off to a new place and the promise of new adventures and discoveries.

On a travel day, you want to strike the right balance between comfy and chic. Pack those 6-inch stilettos in your check-in baggage, and opt for a pair of flat boots. Loving these Phillip Lim booties, for example. They are perfect for traveling, but can also come in handy for walking and sightseeing once you a arrive at your fabulous destination. You cannot go wrong with a pair of casual jeans and a cozy sweater – lots of comfy and loads of chic. And of course, it tends to get cold at 30,000 ft. so keep your jacket and scarf at hand. I never forget to bring along my favorite magazines on a flight. With no wifi, it’s the perfect excuse for some good, old page-turning.

Winter in the City

Winter Outfit Navy Burgundy

When it comes to winter style, clean lines and lady-like structure is a beautiful go-to combo. These burgundy Armani pants capture this perfectly. Their bold color and structure can carry the outfit, so pairing them with a crisp white shirt and elegant heels is sufficient. We looove the combination of burgundy and navy. In fact, we’ve been a little obsessed with navy this fall/winter season… This coat and bag are absolutely divine and complement the rest of the outfit beautifully. Simple, classic jewelry complete the look.
